sung to ghost riders in the sky
As I was sitting all alone one bright and sunny day,
in my home just chanting Om, my guitar I did play,
Suddenly and shockingly a knocking did resound,
Busting up my mellow mood and bringing me to ground.

I got up from my easy chair and opened up the door,
The sight before me terrified and nailed me to the floor.
With eyes glazed in self-righteousness and wearing plastic grins,
"Praise the Lord" they shouted out "Let's talk about your sins."

Please Bodhisattva NO.....Say it ain't so.....
There's Bible-beaters at my door.

As I looked into their zealot eyes I saw they had one goal,
So I thanked them for their deep concern about my mortal soul.
And said "But I am Buddhist and only I can set me free."
"I do not wish to sacrifice unto to your deity."

The women stepped to one side and started singing hymns.
The children they held by their hands were also joining in.
One man stepped up in front of me, their leader I could tell.
He shook his finger in my face, and said "Sinners go to Hell"

The leader said "There's just one God, you'd better worship Him."
"Come with us, we'll teach you rules to keep you free from sin."
"Then you can join our company, traveling day to day."
"Converting all to our belief....No matter what they say."

He started spouting scripture and his face was turning red.
I wondered if he'd blow a vein and fall right over dead.
I looked at him and asked him if he couldn't plainly see,
The path he'd chosen for himself was surely not for me.

I smiled my sweetest smile at them and offered them some tea.
And told them I was quite content with all my deities.
I said "I cannot follow on the path that you have hatched."
"My religion is kindness... no strings attached."

I stood before them smiling til they finally did give in.
The leader said "Let's leave this place, we'll not save him from sin."
As they walked away I thought about their narrow minded fashion.
This world would be lots better if we all learned some compassion

Listen to the call by softfirelight
Listen to the call as the day turns to night
A quiet hush fills the air
Thoughts soften and turn to dreams
Gentle breezes brush through children's hair

Oceans of wisdom surround us all
Paintings of ideas rush to the shores
The Dharma is spoken across the earth
Let it in through your mind's open doors

Grim is the world we live today
Hope lives on for the days of tomorrow
Peace is my wish for all to have
But for now we deal with much pain and sorrow

I call to you, society, the majority
Remedy your blindness and resentment
Cast off the veil of mass delusions
Release your bonds of harmful attachment

For it is in the Dharma you will find compassion
Here you will have inner peace
Strive and embrace the enlightenment
And let the hate and violence cease

You scored as alternative. You're partially respected for being an individual in a conformist world yet others take you as a radical. You have no place in society because you choose not to belong there - you're the luckiest of them all, even if your parents are completely ashamed of you. Just don't take drugs ok?

Oh Shangrila where does your sun shine now?
Your shining Light,
Is lost behind the clouds.
The chains of darkness are upon you now.
Your spirit held in Bondage.

Rangzen free just like the river flows,
Rangzen free just like the wind that blows,
Rangzen freedom for the land of the snows!

Oh who will speak on your behalf?
And tear on down the Golden calf.
Imposed on you by China's wrath
For progress without honor.

Who will sing the songs to be sung?
and speak the name on every tongue.
and by your words though they have guns
and put the yoke upon us.

Who will set the people free?
Return Tibet to harmony.
and set the goal that ought to be
The far shores of Nirvana.

Rangzen free just like the river flows,
Rangzen free just like the wind that blows,
Rangzen freedom for the land of the snows!

May great compassion Chenresig
his heart is filled with sympathy
May Tezin Gyatso set his people free
and shine a Light into the darkness

spirit? I am crazy? what is this?
I am having a problem with the environment in my home. Sometimes I feel as though there is something wrong. That I am anxious and waiting for something to happen. Something bad. I get a chill that passes through my body and my hair stands on end.
Last night this happened at 3:00 am. My dog also gets restless and she usually sleeps on the floor by my bed, but she was walking in and out of the room.
I am wondering if it is a spiritual thing or am I in delusion. Either way I need to deal with it. Can you recommend a practice to help me. This only happens when I am at home. I visit a woman in Philadelphia for weeks at a time and it never happens there. Only when I am at home.

Thank you sincerely,

open heart raw and exposed
I am trying to face alot of things that I hide from.Face them head on and deal with it .
Sometimes my emotions get the best of me and I just push them down.
I had in the past also used alcohol to soften my bad feelings.I am not doing that for now.
The smallest thing can cause me to be sorrowful and even cry.In the past it has been people in Iraq getting killed.Nick Berg being beheaded. The tough one also is missing my Grama.I feel somehow weak by letting things make me so upset.Just last night I was watching a movie "The Butterfly effect" and there was a scene where a kid set fire to a dog in a bag.It took me a long time to get the lousy feelings to leave me.It was just a movie I know but I get so sad.
The plus side of this is that I have great compassion for people .
So I am trying to grow and become better ,just let my heart feel and deal.Leave myself open and not drown my sorrow in beer.

I do not understand this samsaric world of suffering or the violence of man against man and animals. It makes me sick.
So I am trying thats all I can say.Trying is better than giving up.

I am The Lovers

The Lovers often refers to a relationship that is based on deep love - the strongest force of all. The relationship may not be sexual, although it often is or could be. More generally, the Lovers can represent the attractive force that draws any two entities together in a relationship - whether people, ideas, events, movements or groups.

The course is Taught BY Geshe Tashi Tsering of the Gelug tradition.I am Looking forward to learning more about Buddhism and meditation. The course is called "The foundation of Buddhist Thought".It starts of with the Buddha's first teaching known as the Four Noble Truths.

"The Zen philosopher Basho once wrote:
'A flute with no holes is not a flute,
And a doughnut with no hole is a Danish.'
He was a funny guy."

A Zen master once said to me, "Do the opposite of whatever I tell you." So I didn't.

Who are you?
(Author unknown)
WHO ARE you?
My name is Peter.
If you went to Nicaragua, you'd be called Pedro. Are Pedro
and Peter one person or two?
One, because I am only who I am.
Are you a name?
No, of course not.
Then who are you?
I am a man.
You mean you are not a woman?
No. I mean that I am a man.
But you are only a man because you are not a woman.
Who are you?
I am an Englishman.
If you went to Japan, would you be a Japanese man?
Because I was born in England and I speak English.
If you had been born in England but raised in China, would
you be Chinese or English?
I would be English.
Oh, then, you are not a person, rather you are a country.
Who are you?
I am the grandson of a famous Arctic explorer. He returned
from the North Pole with a frozen polar bear in the hull of
his ship.
And which do you think you are defined more by, your
grandfather or the polar bear?
How could I be defined by my family? I'm just me.
Then you are more like a single polar bear?
No. I am an intelligent, accomplished man. That's what
everyone says.
Now, let me see: you are Peter who is intelligent and
accomplished and special because your grandfather was a
famous Arctic explorer. What else sets you apart?
My youngest daughter is a world-class gymnast and my
mother died when I was a child.
Ah, you are Peter the tragic, Peter the successful. Which
would you say is the real you: a motherless son or the
father of a successful daughter?
Both are within me.
Where do you mean?
I mean, is this within you closer to your head or your toes?
Perhaps in between. Closer to my heart.
It's a feeling?
How big is it?
I'm not sure.
What color is it?
It doesn't have a color.
A form?
But it's inside you?
If we cut open your heart, could we see it?
I don't suppose so.
Then where is it?
I don't know.
Are you sure it is inside you?
Where else could it be?
Look again. Come here. Look in the mirror. Do you see
intelligence? grandfather? accomplishment? gymnast?
Do you see Englishman?
Do you see Peter?
I don't know.
Good. Now we can begin. Who are you?

United not divided
The fate of this Constitutional amendment will be decided in the next few days. Please sign up below -- we'll immediately forward your comments to your Senators and Representative -- and then ask your friends and colleagues to sign.

President Bush campaigned on a promise to unite us, not divide us. But now he's using the politics of hate in an attempt to distract us from the real issues -- Iraq, the economy, funding for our schools. Bush wants to amend the U.S. Constitution to deny marriage equality to same-sex couples. This is unprecedented -- never before has our Constitution been amended to take away anyone's rights.

"Everyone has the same rights. There is no place in America for a Constitutional amendment denying marriage equality to anyone."

deliver your message to Capitol Hill before the upcoming vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment. Act now to send an email with this message to the President, your Senators, your Representative in Congress, and other political leaders. Please enter your name, email address, zip code, and personal comment below.
